The Words I Long to Hear
Good Morning Girls! Last night I was reading the account of Mary anointing Jesus' feet with expensive perfume. Here she is, trying to show her love for the Lord, and all around her are people critizing her actions, saying she is wasting money, and being irresponsible. Nowhere in the story does it say she stood up, with her hands on her hips, and said "listen you idiots, I'm following my heart, and you are ruining everything!". No, Mary continues to tend to Jesus, and Jesus is the one to stand up for Mary. I wonder if I would have been able to handle the situation with the same humble conviction that Mary did. Would I have kept on doing what I knew was right, or would I have started crying and ran out the door? What happened in this story, is not so different than what happens to us when we step out in faith today. It seems like there is often people that come out of the woodwork to criticize what someone believes is the leading of the Lord. It says in the Word, that anyone who loves the Lord will be hated by the World. When we are criticized it's just the worlds way of responding to that which they do not understand. The last verse in this story is the one that struck me the most. They are words that I want to hear the Lord say about me someday. Matthew 26:13 I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman's deed will be remembered and discussed."
