My WHY

Good Morning Girls!  Are you ready?  Today seems like a good day to share with you all why I believe the Lord is telling me to do Body for Life.  It all started almost 3 years ago.  I was at our cabin in Washington state.  Melissa was here at home.  Mel and I had just started getting to know each other over the summer.  One day at the cabin I decided to take my nephew into Spokane to run some errands.  We decided to go to Borders bookstore.  I noticed this book called Body for Life.  There was also a Body for Life for Women.  I grabbed both books and sat down.  My nephew and I were looking at them and amazed at all of the "before" and "after" photos.  I wanted a book, but I couldn't decide which one.  After staring at both of them for awhile, I grabbed the Women's one, and went home.  I read the whole book on the way home and when we hit the Minnesota border I called Mel.  I said "Mel, I just got this book, Body for Life for Women, I've read the whole thing, I know it's short notice but I'm starting tomorrow, and I really want you to do it with me."  There was silence on the other end of the phone.  Then she said "Oh....my.....while you were gone I read the book Body for Life and I PRAYED that somehow you would get the book, and want to do it with me.  I wanted you to get the Women's version so we could compare.  I was going to give you a week to get ready".  The next day, we were off and running.  We followed the program to a T and both had great results.  I'm not just talking about weight loss. We both learned so much about ourselves. Our strengths, and weaknesses.  In the past both of us have struggled to committing to something.  We like to "go with the flow".  This was all new to us, and we loved and hated every minute of it.  The bummer of it is that we never received our entry kits to officially submit our story to Body for Life.  Though we knew, in our hearts, we had completed, we didn't get the full satisfaction of handing in our "homework".  We both decided to start another 12 weeks.  Five weeks into it, Mel found out she was pregnant, and we eventually quit.  Mel did a great job at remaining healthy.  I on the other hand, bounced from one thing to another.  I kept trying new programs, or I made up my own.  I kept trying to find a better, easier way to "lose the last 10 pounds".  Anyone who's known me for the last 3 years, knows I'm either doing, thinking, starting,or quitting some type of fitness program.  It is the thorn in my side.  Mel on the other hand did 2 rounds of Body for Life after Mackenzie was born. She submitted her "homework" and has a Certificate of Completion to prove it. Over the last few weeks, the Lord has shown me that it really isn't about the last ten pounds.  It's about completing the task He assigned me 3 years ago.  The Lord has put a new dream in my heart, but I will not be successful in pursuing it until I complete this first.  So girls, there is my WHY.  Feel free to pray todays verse for me, as well as yourselves.  Psalm 90:17 And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!

Love you all-
Jen
