Look Up, Not Ahead
Hey Girls! Were any of you able to figure out todays 4 letter Word? The definition of the word is 1. to cease performing an action 2. to give up, as in defeat. You guessed it. The mother of all 4 letter words......QUIT. I QUIT! I'M DONE! I GIVE UP! We usually don't verbally say these things and mean them. I think if you say them out loud, there is that tiny part deep inside that knows it isn't the right thing to do. Instead of declaring defeat, we usually take a less direct approach. We simply use definition #1, we cease performing an action. We miss one workout, and that leads to 2, and then it seems like "what's the point", and we cease all together. We get one overdue bill, and then another, and we stop praying, and start worrying, and pretty soon if someone were to ask us about the Lord's provision, we wouldn't even know how to answer. There are times when we have ceased performing, and suddenly, someone asks you "how's that ______ going?". You get that icky feeling in your gut, and in attempt to make it go away you try to Spiritualize it my saying "I think I missed God on that" or "I feel the Lord is leading me in another direction". We all have days when we are way past our limits. Not completing all of your goals, every day, is not quitting. It is when you no longer even attempt to do them, think about them, or get excited about them, that you have lost heart and quit. When you feel like your goal is too big for you, instead of looking ahead, look up! Instead of thinking about how you don't measure up, meditate on what Jesus went through so that you are able to have victory over everything you set your mind to! He didn't quit, and he hasn't given up on you! He will never 1. cease to love you, or 2. give up and feel defeated by you!
Hebrews 12:3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people, then you won't become weary and give up.
