No Oinking Please!
Good Morning Girls! Last night I was with some of my "girls" for a little night out without kids. How is it that 4 hours with girlfriends flys by, yet 4 hours playing polly pockets can be torture? With 8 of us hanging out, it is only natural that at some point we would end up discussing diet, exercise, and general appearance "flaws", and ways to "fix" them. When the conversation started, I kept quiet because just 2 days prior, I had played what I call the "which is worse" game. It's the game where you look in the mirror and determine which smile makes your wrinkles look worse. It seriously seemed to me that I developed crow's feet overnight, and I have these new lines around my mouth. Very interesting. The good thing about them is that they distracted me from my c-section skin for the night! Most of you know me well enough to know that I am a girl who firmly believes in our mantra of "it is what it is". That also applies to wrinkles and other "flaws" I may have. I believe 100% in doing the things to maintain and improve your health, such as exercising, and eating right, but I'm not one to cover up or fix the things that are a visible record of my life. I think one friend said it best when she said "I may have wrinkles, but I've had the best time getting them." Sure I'll continue to color my hair, and even endure a little eyebrow waxing. I like to wear cute clothes from the same stores my 15 year old niece shops at, but that is were I draw the line. You will not find me injecting, nipping, lifting, or tucking anything (other than my boobs into my underwear when I am 90). Now don't misunderstand me. I am not saying these things are bad, or ungodly. I am simply saying they are not for me. Someone brought up the most important truth regarding beauty: if you do not have it on the inside, the outside doesn't really matter. If you feel beat down, unloved, unforgiven, and unworthy, there is no external makeover that will fix the way you feel. The makeover you need, is the internal, eternal one! It is the one that comes from knowing you are a princess of the highest King. It is the makeover that tells us we are "new creations". It is the makeover that tells us we are God's masterpiece, and we are fearfully and wonderfully made! Once you have this revelation, the external things seem to fade away. Every "beauty mark" I have comes with a great story, and I don't plan on erasing the pages!

Like a gold ring in pig's snout is a beautiful face on an empty head
Love you (and all your beauty marks)
