Faithful Love

Hey Girls!  A little disclaimer here before we get started.  This is not an in depth scripture study we are about to embark on here.  This is simply MY desire to learn more about these "character traits" so I may understand better what exactly this fruit will look like, and what I need to do (if anything) in order for them to manifest more in my life.  I am taking you with me on my daily Bible time, on my thought processes.  Sound Good?  The first fruit listed is love.  I think it's a hard one.  There are so many ways we use the word love.  We love ice cream.  We love our family.  We love our church.  We love the Lord.  When it says the Holy Spirit produces love in our lives, does it mean we will be loved, or does it mean we will have the ability to love others?  I started looking up scriptures about love, and I discovered a few things about God's love.  It is different than the way we love.  In the verses that talk about God's love for us, it often says His faithful love.  Faithful love.  God didn't use fillers in the Bible like we used to in order to meet our minimum essay requirements.  He uses words with purpose.  He wants us to know that His love for us is faithful.  What does that mean for us?  The word faithful means true, and to be trusted, constant, loyal, reliable.  It means He will never use the phrase "I just don't love you right now", like the Lifetime Original Movies like to use.  It means that in the midst of us throwing a tantrum towards Him because our lives are not going the way we want them to, He gently reaches down to us and whispers "I am sorry you are hurting, I still love you".  It means that in the midst of disobedience, He looks down to us with sadness but still says "I love you."  Even when you are not faithful to Him, He will be faithful to you!  I believe love is listed first because once you have revelation of how much He loves you, it is much easier to have joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever!

Love you-
Jen
