Are you On the Alter?
Good Morning Girls! Wow, studying God's love is exciting, and overwhelming! He is soooooo good! God's love for us started out with a sacrifice. He sacrificed his only son for us, and Jesus sacrificed His life for us. Now I can hear some of you saying "you don't have to tell me about sacrifice......I haven't eaten a hot meal in 6 years.......I let my kids eat the last brownie and I didn't even get one.......I stayed inside yesterday doing laundry when the rest of the family played outdoors.......I had sex with my husband last night even though he didn't help me with one thing yesterday....how's that for sacrifice". It's true, as wives, and moms, we make sacrifices all the time in the name of love. The difference in our sacrifice, compared with God's sacrifice, is that He did it willingly, with no motive other than to show His awesome love for us. When we sin He doesn't say to us "I can't believe I gave my only son for you, and this is the thanks I get!" or how about "I can't believe I bother to know the hairs on your head, and all you do is whine". No, He gave us His son, and He doesn't regret it, and He doesn't tell us how hard it was for Him to do it, and He doesn't make us feel guilty for it. If we want to love others like God loves us, we need to learn to sacrifice ourselves joyfully without letting others know how "inconvenient " it was. Hey Girls, don't get mad at me.....I'm preaching to myself here as well!
1John 4:9-10 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love- not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
Love you all (and that is not a sacrifice)
Jen
