How Hard Can It Be?

Good Morning Girls!   Kind:  Of a friendly, generous or warm hearted nature.  Showing sympathy or understanding.  Generous.  Humane.  Tolerant.   Kindness : The quality or state of being kind.  An instance of kind behavior.
When you look at Websters definitions of kind and kindness, they really are not inspiring.  How hard is it for us to be friendly, humane, or tolerant?  "Gee thanks for being so tolerant of me, that really is kind of you".  Or how about showing an instance of kind behavior?  "Hey Mel remember that one time when you helped me out with the kids 2 years ago?  Thanks for that instance of kind behavior!".  To me, these are just no brainer qualities the whole world should have.  I mean, aren't I always generous and warm hearted?........Flashback to the last 24 hours of my life......how about the time I started walking faster because I saw someone heading to the same line as me out of the corner of my eye and I wanted to beat them there?  I totally pretended I didn't see them.  What about the fact that I didn't say "great job" to all the dancers I saw after the show on Sunday because I was tired of being there and just wanted to get home? What about Father's Day?  I made Tom feel special......but not too special.....after all, I am the one who does most of the parenting.  Yikes!  Guess I was wrong.  Being kind is not a "no brainer" quality I have and exude all the time.  I have to consciously think about it.  I have to repeatedly put others before myself.  I need to get out of my "to do list" mindset and keep an eye out for someone else who may be in need of "an instance of kindness".  It now makes sense why it is listed as one of the fruits of the Spirit.  It is definitely harder than it seems it should be to simply be kind.  If we need help being kind, chances are those who do not have Christ in their hearts struggle with kindness even more than we do.  Being kind to others will set us apart from others, and they will see there is just "something about us"  that is different, and they just may ask what that is!

2 Corinthians 6:6 We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love

Love you all-
Jen
