Hold Him Close

Good Morning Girls!  Gentleness.  When the Holy Spirit dwells within us, we will exhibit gentleness.  What does that even mean?  I read every verse in 2 translations that had the word gentle or gentleness in it.  I looked in Websters and the Bible dictionary, and still I had nothing.  Then I closed my eyes and tried to think about when, if ever, I used the word gentle to describe something.  I thought about what "gentle" looks like.  I imagined holding a baby.  When holding something so precious and fragile, you hold her close to you.  You protect her, guard her, comfort her, nurture her. Your speech is soft and loving.  You don't hold her out with your arms straight and walk around handing her to anyone who has their hands out.  You are careful as to who you let see and touch her.  You do not leave her with just anyone.  This relationship is similar to our relationship with the Lord.  We are to hold Jesus close to us.  We are to guard and protect our hearts.  We are to nurture our relationship with the Lord.  We are to spend time with Him.  We are to let Him comfort us.  We don't run around throwing our "religion" around to just anyone.  We boldly, yet softly speak the truth of the Gospel to those the Lord tells us to.  We understand that our faith is precious, and it is also fragile.  We cannot set it in a corner until we feel like getting back to it.  If we neglect it, it will die.  When the Holy Spirit dwells within us, we will have the understanding of the precious and delicate nature of our relationship with the Lord. We will be attentive to Him, and protect our relationship with Him.   Others will see your love for the Lord, and may even ask you about it.  Are you gently holding on to Jesus?

Philippians 4:5  Let your gentleness be evident to all.

Love you all-
Jen
