Mental Transformation

Good Morning Girls!  For the last few days you have hopefully been paying attention to the way you speak and think about yourself.  Did you learn anything new?  Are you your biggest fan, or your worst critic?  I did good, most of the time.  My whole family was over on Saturday, and that proved to be a challenge for me.  It's a good thing we are going to transform our minds this week, as I will be spending 6 days with my family at the cabin next week!  We better get to work!  When you found yourself making or thinking negative comments, did you take a moment to examine what triggered the thought?  Have you noticed specific things that cause you to feel inadequate?  I bet in most cases it started with a comparison.  You saw someone at the beach with 4 kids and no "muffin top".  You went to a friends house that was spotless.  Your friend gets out of the pool with perfect hair, and you look like you just stepped off a 10 hour Harley road trip.  You overhear someone talk about all the wonderful things their husband did for them.  These things are not earth shattering things, but if you have a negative mindset about yourself, these things can send you into a negative self talk frenzy.  You will never win when playing the comparison game.  Let me put your mind at ease right now, and tell you a little secret.  There will always be someone who is taller, faster, stronger, thinner, smarter, more popular, more wealthy, more well traveled, more everything.  Does that make you feel depressed?  It shouldn't!   The things we often compare ourselves to, are not the things that matter.  They are the things of the world.  They are the things the world has placed value on.  When I get to heaven, I guarantee the Lord will not say "Jen, I love you just a little more because you always had the cutest clothes!".  Most of what the world has to offer   is intended to distract and destroy us.  The world likes us to be self absorbed, obsessed babies, crying out for surgery, medication, and products to make us feel better.  It needs us to need them.  If our eyes are stuck looking in the mirror, they cannot be looking up, at the cross, reminding us of what is truly important.  So girls, put your Cosmos in the trash, turn off the TV, and ask the Lord to transform you, and remind you of what is truly important.  Ask Him what He loves most about you.  I guarantee it will fill you up more than any compliment you get from the world!

Romans 12:2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Love you all-
Jen
