The Pain Factor
Good Morning Girls! No Pain. No Gain. Pain is just fear leaving the body. That which doesn't kill me makes me stronger. Chances are you've heard these little catch phrases before. Like many quotes and phrases the world throws around, they are simply different ways of saying a Biblical truth that has been around for thousands of years. The Lord acknowledges that it is not always easy to do the right thing. It is not always easy saying no to the things the rest of the world is embracing. God never said it would be easy, but He does promise that it will be worth it! The reward is greater than any pain you will suffer. I started a new workout this week, and today was day 4. To say it is painful is a gross understatement. Though it is only 25 minutes long, but minute 5 I am making noises that I have not heard since being in labor, and by minute 14 I am seriously praying for the Rapture! I have an intense love/hate relationship with this workout. I hate it, because while I am doing it I feel weak and silly. However, when I am done, I feel like I could take on one of my football playing nephews. I feel tough like "oh yeah, this mother of 2 still has it. you wanna mess with me? I don't think so. Let me see you do a plank row with a leg raise, and then we will talk". Yeah, I can "talk smack" for a good hour after my workout, I feel that good! Now, this may be a silly example of the pain factor, but it carries over to any area of your life that you are trying to instill discipline into. Whether you are trying to save money, wake up earlier, limit tv, or read your Bible, you will have some painful moments adjusting to the new discipline. Push through and I promise you, you will feel so good you will want to "talk a little smack" yourself!
Hebrews 12:11 No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening-it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way
(okay I guess "peaceful harvest" sounds much more spiritual than "talking smack", but the bottom line is you will feel better!)
Love you all-
Jen

This series is so great, Jen! I am LOVING the verses you are giving us. It's changing my whole attitude about my workouts.
