Got A VHS Plan?

Good Morning Girls!  The other day, the kids and I stopped at the public library.  Thomas, my four year old, went straight to the movie section.  He loves the movie Where the Wild Things Are.  The last time we were there, they did not have it.  They also did not have it this time.  He kept looking, over and over, and over.  He found a copy in VHS format, and his sister told him it would not work at home.  He didn't like her response so he brought it to me.  I also explained that it would not work at home.  He looked at me and said, "what about downstairs?"  I said "won't work".  He took a couple of steps away and turned and said "what about upstairs?", and I said "won't work".  He continued to carry it around and again went over and looked through every DVD.  The librarian was witnessing all of this, and had told me it was in fact out, but she could have one sent over and we would have it in 3 days.  After a few minutes Thomas came back carrying the video and said "I know, let's go to a friend's and watch it?".  I told him no.  By now he was very upset and started crying.  I tried to get him to come over to the librarian desk so she could tell him she was getting it for him.  By the time I got him to the desk, he was crying so hard, he could not calm himself down.  He couldn't regain his composure long enough to hear the solution.  When he was finally able to comprehend what we were telling him, he got mad all over again, because Friday was too far away.  He sulked the whole way home.  After being home for a few minutes, he started talking about Friday, and getting the movie.  He was no longer emotional.  He had accepted the solution.  Every day, a few times a day, he asks if it is Friday yet, and when I tell him no, he smiles and says ok.   As I was reading in bed that night I started thinking about the incident.  There have been times when I have had a similar experience.  I had an expectation that was not met. I began frantically searching for a back up plan. I held on the bad VHS plan that was not going to work.  By the time the Lord was trying to give me the solution, I was too emotional and my mind was too clouded thinking of my own answers that I could not even hear Him.  The Word tells us that the Lord watches over us.  He has a plan for us.  He provides better solutions than we could ever think up.  When we are faced with a situation that has not gone according to our plan, the best thing is to be still and listen for God's voice.  He will speak a solution into our hearts, and it will not be in an outdated VHS format!

Psalm 95:7 We are the people He watches over, the flock under his care, if only you would listen to his voice today!

Love you all-
Jen
