One Is The Loneliest Number
Good Morning Girls! I'm assuming you've committed your plans to yourself and to the Lord. So, that should be enough accountability right? For some, it is. For most of us, it isn't. I used to feel guilty that I would commit something to God, and still struggle. I thought if I was the great woman of faith that I claimed to be, it should be enough to commit to Him. I have learned that this is not always the case. There are some things, some private things, that I do keep between the Lord and I. There are other things that I feel the need for someone more tangible to be accountable to. You know someone I can cry to, laugh with, celebrate mini victories with. Sure, I can do all these things with the Lord, but there are still times when I need to have some one that it just a phone call away. I need some one filled with the same estrogen that understands how a bad hair day can seem like a perfect excuse to eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's. Some one who understands, but will not allow this line of reasoning. It is time to enlist a friend or two. When picking this person, it is important to pick some one who can understand your goal. Don't ask the friend with the unlimited budget if they will help you to not make any purchases for 30 days. They will not understand. Don't ask the one who comments "Why do you work out so much" to help you meet your new fitness goals. I have different friends for different goals. It doesn't mean one is better than the other. It simply means one is better at the specific task than the other. You need to inform this person of what your needs are. Ask them if they are willing to do what it takes to help you when you are in a PMS funk. It's even better when you can enlist someone who wants to do the same thing as you. It's harder to cheat when you know there is someone across town doing the work you have also committed to. Take some time today to find a friend who will help you stay on track when things get tough.
