I Stand Alone......
Good Morning Girls! (and you 2 faithful men) Sometimes making positive changes in our lives can leave us feeling lonely. Maybe you are the only one in the house interested in eating healthier. Maybe you are the only friend who wants to stop drinking. Perhaps, as you stay faithful to your new budget, all of your friends are showing off their new fall handbags and jeans, while you sit there quietly hoping for some of last years hand me downs. There are definitely moments of loneliness on the road to achieving your goals. The truth is however, that everyone has "something". There is not one person who doesn't have at least one thing (more like 100 things), that they would like to change for themselves. Whether it's financial, physical, relational, emotional, everyone struggles with "stuff". Though everyone's goals are different, we all share this basic truth: At some point in our journey,we will all be tempted to quit. Though we each have different things that may tempt us, the truth is, we are not alone. While sitting in a room with others, we may feel like we are the only ones secretly feeling insecure. We may think everyone else has it together. We may think it comes so easy for some, yet hard for yourself. Let me set the record straight: Not all things come easy for all people! Let's take food for example. When I decided to get on and stay on a healthy eating plan, some things were easy. Some things I am still at war with. It was easy to not eat fast food. I only ate it once or maybe twice a year. I never liked it, so no biggy keeping it out of my diet. Now some of you reading this are probably starting to hyperventilate at the thought of never having another french fry or Big Mac. Not me. On the other hand.....caramel corn.......last night I had such a real dream about making and eating a whole bowl of my awesome caramel corn that I woke up in a panic wondering how I was going to tell you all that by day 12, I had already given in, and broke my no sugar commitment. It was that real! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I pulled a kernel out of my gums later! Some of you may think that is the silliest thing you've heard. A slave to caramel corn? Yep, that is my favorite form of sugar. Including the 3 tablespoons of corn syrup that go in it, even though I know that if I gave it to a laboratory rat it would probably keel over and die! So girls, next time you feel like you are the only one struggling, let me assure you, you are not. Everyone, I mean everyone is being tempted by something. We'll continue with this verse tomorrow.......
1 Corinthians 10:13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And god is faithful, He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
