The Mother of all Real Women

Good Morning Girls!  We are returning to Women Week.  When we started 2 weeks ago, I had barely scratched the surface.  I definitely didn't have the answer to the question that had been on my mind.  The question of What do Real Women Do? Well, the Lord brought me to a place.  When He brought me there I said "No Way....hold on Mister.....this is supposed to be a good thing we are studying about women.......the question is not "How do we fall short?"  No, the question is  "What do Real Women Do!!!???"   Can you guess where the Lord brought me?  That's right, Proverbs 31.  You know that chapter in the Bible that we pretend doesn't exist.  The part that we jokingly say was part of the curse of the law, and does not apply to us?  Yeah, that Proverbs 31.  So now you understand why I had to put up a little fight with the Lord right?  I mean, I did not want to study it out, how in the world was I supposed to get you all excited about it?  Well the Lord simply told me to read it, again, but with new eyes.  He assured me that I would not finish feeling that I had once again fallen short of this Biblical Martha Stewart phenomenon.  So, I did.  For the first time ever, I was truly exited about it!  I saw it differently than I had ever seen it before.  I believe when we are done you will all be able to say "Yeah, that's right, I AM a Proverbs 31 woman" (without laughing and rolling your eyes).  We are going to start things off a little differently this week.  You have an assignment.  I want you to read Proverbs 31:10-31.  I don't want you to look at the details, like how she finds wool and flax and busily spins it. No, what I want you to look for is the qualities and characteristics this list of duties and accomplishments is portraying.  Don't compare yourself to her.  Simply look at what the list of duties says about her.  Write down any adjectives or words you would use to describe her.  Don't worry, no one will look at your paper!  We will continue tomorrow.  Now don't go skipping out for the week!  I promise we will have fun!

Proverbs 31:10-31 (New Living Translation)

A Wife of Noble Character
 10 [a]Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
      She is more precious than rubies.
 11 Her husband can trust her,
      and she will greatly enrich his life.
 12 She brings him good, not harm,
      all the days of her life.

 13 She finds wool and flax
      and busily spins it.
 14 She is like a merchant’s ship,
      bringing her food from afar.
 15 She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household
      and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.

 16 She goes to inspect a field and buys it;
      with her earnings she plants a vineyard.
 17 She is energetic and strong,
      a hard worker.
 18 She makes sure her dealings are profitable;
      her lamp burns late into the night.

 19 Her hands are busy spinning thread,
      her fingers twisting fiber.
 20 She extends a helping hand to the poor
      and opens her arms to the needy.
 21 She has no fear of winter for her household,
      for everyone has warm[b] clothes.

 22 She makes her own bedspreads.
      She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns.
 23 Her husband is well known at the city gates,
      where he sits with the other civic leaders.
 24 She makes belted linen garments
      and sashes to sell to the merchants.

 25 She is clothed with strength and dignity,
      and she laughs without fear of the future.
 26 When she speaks, her words are wise,
      and she gives instructions with kindness.
 27 She carefully watches everything in her household
      and suffers nothing from laziness.

 28 Her children stand and bless her.
      Her husband praises her:
 29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
      but you surpass them all!”

 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
      but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
 31 Reward her for all she has done.
      Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

Love you all-
Jen
