Day 20 Love is Jesus Christ
Good Morning Girls! Can you believe we are at day 20? I hope you all had time this weekend to review your past assignments and reflect on what has (or hasn't) happened so far. Are you all ready to move forward? Not much has happened around here the last few days. I have however found myself at times thinking "I am kind of sick of putting him first all the time....when will this be over?". It only happened once or twice, and I snapped myself out of it.
Todays' reading and assignment picks up where the previous one left off. Once you realize the need for God in your marriage, you need to invite him into your heart and into your marriage. Many of you have prayed the prayer of salvation. Today is a good day to think about what that truly means. Think about what Jesus did for you. As women we love a good movie where the man fights for the woman. Where the man risks his life to save her. Where the man is willing to leave all of his things, his family, his reputation, all to be with the woman he loves. Well Girls, each of us has experienced this already. It isn't a movie, it is real! Jesus loved each of us so much, that he gave up his position, his Father, his power, and ultimately his life for us. What greater love story is there than that?
Take some time today to meditate on what Jesus did for you. Try to imagine the love he must have for you to be willing to die for you, knowing how time and again we would fail. Think about how much he loved those who were cruel and hateful and didn't deserve love. Think about how he taught his disciples, and now teaches us, that above all other things love comes first. Having a revelation of how He loves you will help you overlook the shortcomings of your spouse. Who are we to withhold our love, when we have sacrificed nothing compared to the One who loves us greater than we can even comprehend?
Girls, once we feel the love that has been undeservingly given to us, we can give love to others whether they deserve it or not. Please take time today to just sit and let the Lord show you and fill you with revelation of his love for you. Once you are filled with love, it is much easier to give it! Do not dismiss the power of this. It is worth the time you take to get to this place!
Assignment:
Dare to take God at his Word. Dare to trust Jesus Christ for salvation. Dare to pray "Lord Jesus, I'm a sinner. But you have shown your love for me by dying to forgive my sins, and you have proven your power to save me from death by your resurrection. Lord, change my heart, and save me by your grace."
Questions:
Write about what this experience has been like for you. Even if you are only renewing your commitment to receive and express His love, what has it shown you today?
John 3:16 NLT We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters
Love you all-
Jen
