Onward Christian Soldiers!

Good Morning Girls!  I pray you have all gotten back up, dusted yourself off, and identified what evil tendency you need to turn from in order to reach your goals.  If you haven't, please take the weekend to do so.  If you have, you are probably as excited as I am , and you are ready to take the next step.  So what is the next step?  Basically, it is time to conquer this evil.
I looked up the word conquer in Webster's.  Here's what I found: to defeat or subdue by force, to gain or secure control of by force of arms, and; to overcome by physical, mental, or moral force.  bingo!  That's what we're talking about.......overcoming by physical, mental, and moral force.  You see, we need to involve our whole being in order to conquer our evil tendencies.  We need to line up our mind, body, and spirit when we want to change our behavior.  You see, all three of these are constantly fighting for control of us.  Well, our spirit doesn't fight the same way as our mind and body, but it definitely wants us to win by making right choices, for the good of our whole self.  Our body, and our mind however, are out for their own good time.  They don't really care about the other parts of us.  Our brain screams "give me sugar", but our body doesn't function as well with it.  Our mind replays all of our past failures while we are trying to stay strong in spirit and make good choices.  Our spirit prompts us to get up and exercise, but our body says "one more hour of sleep".  They are often like siblings fighting over anything and everything.  They simply want their way.  They don't want anyone else to win.
So really, we have three separate areas to deal with.  Some are easier than others.  Some actually want us to choose good, while others want to stay back and live in the moment of whatever feels good at the time. "Do it" it says......we'll deal with the consequences later (or not).
Don't be overwhelmed at the thought of dealing with 3 separate areas.  In fact, if this is news to you, you should be jumping with joy.  Think about it.  Think about most "diet plans".  How many of them address all three areas of your self.  Sure, a lot of them address you mind as in positive thinking and stuff, but how many of them address your mind as in the renewing of your mind?.  They don't.  They don't because they don't understand it.  And how about involving your spirit?  I think in the end we will realize that leaving our spirit out of the equation is the biggest reason people either don't lose weight, or end up gaining it all back.  The world's diet solutions certainly do not address our spirit!  If you have tried to lose weight in the past and have failed, this is the time to get excited!  This is the time to realize you are not the failure.....most likely every program, plan, or book you followed, failed.  They failed by failing to address your whole being.  They failed to address your mind, your body, and your spirit.
But girls, we are not of the world!  We know that we are more than just a pretty face (and we are that too).  We are mighty women of God.  Women who desire nothing more than to live in God's will.  Nothing more than to see His plan unfold in our lives.  Nothing more than to have victory over the evils that have held us back.  And we have the secret weapon.  WE have our faith.  WE have the Holy Spirit who guides and directs us.  Who helps us make good choices.  Who keeps us from harm.  Who gives us strength when we are weak.  Who gives us love when we are broken.  Who comforts us when we need it.  Yes, because we are going to put our mind, our body, and our spirit in agreement, we have the victory.  We are more than conquerors!
So Girls, get excited!  We are headed for the ride of our lives....and it is good.
Again, for those of you who have no interest or need for weight loss, I pray you are able to apply these same concepts to another area of your life.  I'm assuming everyone has some "thing" that has held them back.  If not, please e-mail me.......I would like to meet you!

Romans 12:21 Don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. ( we will start addressing the "how to do good" part next week)

Love you all-
Jen
