Intro
Hey Girls! Here's the deal- I am trying to get my thoughts organized for this book and I feel like one minute I am right on track, and the next I am thinking "who am I kidding....I can't do this!". So, I've decided that I am going to start posting some of my work on my blog. I find I do better when I feel as though I already have an audience, if that makes sense. In the past I was careful not to focus all of my blogs on "dieting" because I didn't want people to get scared away thinking I was trying to get everyone to lose weight. However, now I feel like it's okay for me to shift my attention to it as my disclaimer is I am trying to write a weight loss devotional.
Some of the stuff you've seen before. Some of it will be new. Feel free to offer feedback. Right now is one of those "you're in over your head" moments. I'm hoping this will help me get organized. but you know me.....you may suddenly get a new message saying that I will not be writing anymore....or you may get a message saying I have run off to Mexico where I can pretend (for a while) that I do not have this desire in my heart!
Thanks for being patient with me! I love you all! Remember, this is a work in progress (just like I am!)
If you’re looking for someone with six pack abs and cellulite free thighs to motivate you, put down this book. That girl doesn’t live here. However, if you’re looking for a woman, a real woman, who has struggled her whole life to lose (and then maintain) her weight; a woman who has real advice, and who would like to offer real support, encouragement, and even a little tough love, then Praise the Lord for you have found her!
If your wondering how I can offer you help when I, myself am not perfect, let me ask you this question: Why do you want to lose weight? Are you looking for perfection? Are you hoping to find a waif like supermodel hidden inside of you? Or, is your hearts desire simply to look good and feel better about yourself? Would you like to be able to have an active life with your family and friends? Would you like to have energy and strength you haven’t had in years? Would you like to look at the cute clothes on the rack without thinking “I could never wear that.”?
I’ve found that what most women desire is to feel and look good. Sure, it would be awesome to have the genetics of Heidi Klum; to be able to give birth and then walk down the runway 6 weeks later in a bikini, but let’s face it, most of us are not genetically blessed in such a way! Most of us have weight issues ranging from “trouble spots” to obesity. We have tried to get rid of them. We have tried to “fit the mold”. We have tried to make peace with the reflection in the mirror. However, for many of us, it has always been, and still is, a battle.
Well Girls (I hope you don’t mind me calling you Girls, it really is a term of endearment for me), I would love to encourage you by telling you Victory is Yours! You can lose weight. You can get in shape. You can find peace (or at least a peace treaty) with your body! You can accomplish more, regardless of your starting point, than you ever dreamed possible. You can, and you will, become the Girl you know is buried inside, longing, crying to get out. The Girl who loves life and wants to enjoy it to the fullest. The Girl who wants to turn her husbands head and bring him to his knees thanking Almighty God for blessing him with such a woman! Yes, that Girl is ready, willing, and able to come out. The question is: Are you ready, and willing to find her?
