Slow Fade

Good Morning Girls!  Our verse yesterday was Romans 8:38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love.  Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's loveIf nothing can separate us from God's love, how come there are times when we feel like God has forgotten about us?  How come there are times when we feel just about everything- except love?  How come there are times when we feel a million miles away from God, the one whose love can supposedly never be separated from us?  How than does this separation occur?
I believe there is one thing that can separate us from God's love.  It is us.  Now, don't misunderstand me, I am not saying that anything we do, whether intentional or not, can destroy God's love for us.  What I am referring to here is the separation we cause that separates us from feeling God's love for us.  It is the decisions we make that slowly lead us to a place where we feel abandoned by God.  It is our own action, or lack of action, that moves us out of the light.
It doesn't happen overnight.  Just like the song says: It's a slow fade.  It's a combination of decisions and choices we make when we get tired of "waiting on God".  It's the times we take matters into our own hands and try to pull a Frank Sinatra- doing it our way, that move us further away from the light.  It is changes we make that start out small and then snowball.  We don't go to church, we quit getting in the Word, we stop serving in ministry, we pull away from our friends.  Then we stop giving thanks and start asking why.  "Why oh why God are you letting this happen?"  "Why oh why God aren't you answering my prayers?"  "Why oh why God have you left us here to suffer?"    I'll tell you why....It's because we have basically cut ourselves off from all the ways God reaches us and pours out his love on us!   Ask me how I know.....
If we desire to feel God's unfailing love for us, we need to do what the Word says.  No, I am not talking about a bunch of legalistic rules and regulations.  I am talking about something so simple, so precious, so personal.  In order to stay in a place of feeling God's unfailing love for us, we must simply do this: remain in fellowship with Christ.  Tell him everything.  Go to him in your brightest and your darkest moments.  He can handle anything you have to say to him.  He would much rather have you confess that you are angry with him than to hear you say to someone else "I don't even know if I believe he cares anymore".  He already knows the condition of your heart- he simply wants you to have the faith and courage to share it with him.

1 John 2:28  And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame

Now go get some love-

Jen
