Earning your godly Crown
Good Morning Girls! I don't know about you, but there are still times when I feel my rebellious nature rise up. I used to think it meant I was bad, or I wasn't truly born again. I mean, how can I be a godly woman if deep down inside I am feeling like a 3 year old whining "I don't want to go to church. I don't want to read my bible. I don't want to pray about it." To have these feeling would surely mean that I do not love the Lord.
I have come to learn that when I feel my rebellious nature arise, it usually means I have moved myself back under the law. For if there is no law, there is nothing to rebel against! Now, when my flesh says,"I don't want to go to church", my heart says "That's okay, the Lord still loves you, and will bless you this week." I'm serious. Even if I do not go to church, the Lord will protect me! The revelation of this truth then gives me the desire to go to church and thank Him for this undeserved privilege. Am I shaking your world up? If so, perhaps you are still under the law yourself.
I cannot remember the last time I stayed at home instead of going to church. I always go. However, just because I go does not mean I am godly. When I am living under the law I go because I am afraid that if I do not, something bad will happen to me or my family. I remember years ago we skipped church. The next day my daughter had a cold. I seriously believed it was because we did not go to church! "If we would have gone, she would have been healed!" It isn't easy to cultivate that "intimate relationship with Christ" when you think he let your child get sick just because you skipped church! Now, on those rare mornings when I do not feel like going to church, and I stop and recognize that it doesn't carry a "punishment", my heart suddenly hungers for the Lord and I desire to gather with other believers, expecting new revelation.....and my God never disappoints!
Do you see the difference? Have you experienced the difference? When you go to church out of obligation, it is easy to develop an "I went to church, so where is my blessing?" attitude. Your faith, your favor, and your blessing, has suddenly become all about you and the "good deed" you did. However, when you go to church, because your heart desires that special anointing that comes when your company meets- you already know that you don't deserve the blessing, favor, and privileges you are given. The realization that you didn't earn it, but that you are going to get it anyway it the truth that motivates us to worship, serve, and follow Him even more!
So if going to church, praying, and reading your bible doesn't make you godly, what does? In Joseph Prince's book Destined to Reign he states: The secret behind every godly man and woman is their belief in the truth that they have been forgiven. You see, when we feel "bad", we tend to act it ways that reveal our "badness". When we feel clean and forgiven, we desire to live in a way that keeps us pure and clean (though at the same time we have full understanding that clean and forgiven does not mean perfect and without fault!). When we fully realize that no mistake we ever make will cause the Lord to turn from us, we no longer live in fear. We no longer get caught up in our law abiding works program to ensure the Lord stays on our side. You have already been set apart! You are on the winning team! You will never be traded to another one!
So Girls, stop trying to earn your title as a "godly woman", for it has already been given to you! The moment you realized you can't do it on your own and declared Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you were given your "godly woman crown". And guess what- you don't have to "work" to keep it!
Psalm 103:2-3 Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all (that means all) my sins and heals all (that means all) my diseases
Love you all (that means all)
