The Power of Words

Good Morning Girls!  The Lord has really been stirring my heart up the last week or so about the power of words, and the impact they have on our thought life.  And as we know: as a Girl thinks in her heart....so is she.  Words have the ability to pull someone out of the pit.  They can build confidence.  They can be seeds of influence.  Seeds of dreams and vision.  Seeds of salvation.  Yes....words have the power to change a person dramatically in amazing ways.
Just think about it....how are we even saved in the first place?  By asking Jesus into our hearts.  By confessing that He is our Lord and Savior (and then by faith receiving the gift of salvation).  The Word also says: we have not, because we ask not.  And let us not forget how the world was created in the first place: Then God said, "Let there be light,"  and there was light Genesis 1:3.  That is serious power!  Oh how awesome it would be if I could stand in my kitchen and say "Let this be clean!" and so it would be.......but I digress........
Words carry an awesome amount of power.  Both in the natural and supernatural.  That is why we should take our words more seriously.  We should choose them wisely.  We should use them for blessing.....not cursing.  Just as words can build confidence, they can also tear someone down.  They can be debilitating.  They are often the cause of broken hearts.  Broken people.  Broken relationships.  Yes, people may do hurtful things....but it is generally the words that follow that leave the lasting pain.  The words are the poison that can not be taken back.  They can kill any dream, goal, relationship, and person.....sometimes immediately.....sometimes it is a long, slow, painful deterioration.
I know I am not telling you anything you don't already know.  I know you have all heard countless times how important our words are.  I have heard it too.  However, despite all this "knowledge" I have, I still find myself speaking in ways that are not pleasing to me, or the Lord!  I'm not talking about having a sailor mouth or anything.  No, it is a more subtle poison.  It is saying things like "Thomas....why are you such a trainwreck?"  when he spills his cereal for the one hundredth time.  Now before you get all "oh my, I would never say anything like that to my kids", you just hang on.  Stick with me for a few days.  I think you will find we all have plenty of room for Holy Ghost intervention when it comes to our words!

Love, thanks, and joy to you all-
Jen
