Word Challenge

Good Morning Girls!  Yesterday I introduced a new topic that is stirring in my heart.  It is the importance of our words.  There are many different areas to consider when talking about our words.  They are the words spoken to our spouses, kids, friends, acquaintances,  strangers, and ourselves.  The Lord has little "assignments" for us in all of these areas.   I encourage you right now to determine to do these assignments with a good attitude and an expectation for good things to happen.  I do believe we will be hearing some awesome testimonies come out of this!  Are you ready?  Are you willing?  Most importantly.....are you able?
Well according tot the word, we are all able (though at times it doesn't feel like it).  We are all able to speak blessing not cursing because it says in Galatians 5:23 that we are given a spirit of self control.  That means that despite our fleshly desires to rip into our husbands when they don't do what we want them to, we do have the ability to speak to them gently and try to explain to them what it is we want or need.  I know.....this may seem unbelievable....but the Word says it, so it must be true.  We have this crazy thing called self control!
God knew we would struggle with our words.  The Word is filled with scriptures warning us about the dangers of idle, foolish, and destructive talk.  He talks about the need to bridle the tongue.  He also tells us what we should use our words for.  We will be looking at all of these things over the next few days (or possibly weeks....this could take awhile).
Let's start out slow.  Baby steps.  One day at a time.  Today we are going to speak encouragement to ourselves that we can in fact speak words of blessing.  Every time you walk by a mirror, or are driving in your car I want you to say the following confessions.  Yes, it is a little like Stuart Smalley on Saturday Night Live.....but it works!

I am anointed to speak words of blessing and encouragement to myself and others, to a level the world is unfamiliar with, all to the glory of God!

"I will watch what I do and not sin in what I say"-Psalm 39:1

have a blessed day you Good Word Girls-
Jen
