When God When?
Good Morning Girls! So we went to look at the house for my friends last night. It ended up not being what they had hoped it would be. It looked perfect on paper…..but the descriptions and photos did not tell the whole story. There was much more work that needed to be done, and the layout would not meet their needs. They were disappointed of course. They have been waiting for months just to get to the point where they can begin going out and looking at houses. Of course it would have been awesome if the first one they looked at; the one they thought looked perfect on paper was the one…….but it doesn't’t often work out that way.
It was easy for me for me to feel encouraged and stand there saying “God has the perfect house waiting for you!” It was easy for me to walk away and think “We will just schedule a bunch of showings where they can go out and look at a bunch all at once and they will find it…..eventually”. It was easy for me to have this optimism without urgency because it is not my dream that was not fulfilled. Sure I am excited for them to find their dream home, but I can wait.
It’s a lot easier to wait on someone else’s dream that it is to wait on our own. When you wait on someone else’s dream you are not as personally invested (though you like to think you are). It is easier to stand in faith and take God’s Word as absolute truth, because our emotions are not intertwined with the Truth. Truth is, God does have the perfect house waiting for them. God has a place all picked out that it pleases Him to put them. They know this, and they are excited to find it…..but even though they know this with absolute certainty, they will still have those “when God when” moments.
I guess that is another reason it is good to share your dreams with someone you trust. It is good because when those “when God when” moments come, you have someone else to encourage you and remind you of what you already know is true. You have someone who can look at the situation without the same emotional intensity and say “I don’t know when….but I do know….there is a house waiting just for you!”
Do you have someone you can go to when you have a “when God when” moment? I am convinced it is one of the most important things to have in your life when you are looking forward to big dreams. I know that if it were not for the encouragement of others during my “when God when” moments, it would have been very easy for the devil to answer “never Jen, never”. The Bible is filled with encouragement and that is why it is so important to spend time in God’s Word and be encouraged by his promises. But as you can see in today’s verse, God often uses others to bring that encouragement.
In addition to finding yourself a “when God when” Girl…..ask the Lord if there is anyone you can be a “when God when” Girl for!
2 Corinthians 7:6 But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.
Love and dreams to you all,
Jen
