Suddenly
Good Morning Girls! I have heard preachers say before that we serve a God of suddenlys. For example, we are struggling and striving to get through a financial crisis and "suddenly" the exact amount owed to the cover all debts comes in. Or someone is battling a terminal illness and "suddenly" they are miraculously healed. We have all heard similar stories like these. Yes, we serve a God of suddenlys!
I decided to look up all the scriptures that had the word suddenly in it. I looked in the New Living Translation because that is the one I use most often. There were 101 scriptures. As I read through each one, I noticed something. I noticed that whenever the word "suddenly" was used, something big happened. Suddenly the water turned to blood. Suddenly the walls of Jericho collapsed. Suddenly my life was over. Suddenly the glory of God was there. Suddenly Jesus appeared. There was never a "suddenly" we ate breakfast kind of verse. No. "Suddenlys" are saved for the big things. The miracle things. Whether it is a good suddenly, or a big suddenly, they are all big God suddenlys.
So I looked up the definition of suddenly. It is: happening without warning; unforseen. occurring unexpectedly. This caused me to pause for a moment. I mean, how could it be unexpected? God knows the end from the beginning. He already has it all planned out. Surely there is nothing unexpected in His world! Then the lights came on and I realized that the "suddenlys....the occurring unexpectedly moments.....are for the ones that the "suddenly" happens to. It was unforseen to the disciples that the storm would suddenly stop when Jesus commanded. It was not unforseen to God. it was unexpected to Pharaoh that the river could suddenly turn to blood. It was not unexpected to God. Are you with me?
Then the lightbulb got a little brighter for me and I realized something else. Though we do not know the timing of things, we can still expect "suddenlys" to occur in our lives! I believe that is why God placed so many "suddenly" moments for us to read about. He clearly wants us to know that He is a God of Suddenlys.....and He is the same today as He was then. Praise the Lord! The timing may be unexpected.......but the outcome doesn't have to be! We can expect our suddenly to come! That is what faith and hope are all about isn't it? It's about the waiting and expecting good things to occur in our lives! It's about realizing that we serve a God of Suddenlys and it pleases Him to surprise us with good things.......at just the right suddenly time!
Whenever I feel like my suddenly is taking to long, I play me a little Superchick. So instead of a verse today, I am leaving you with the link to one of my favorite "hang in there....your suddenly time is coming" songs. Hope you like it!
Love, thanks, and suddenly to you all,
Jen
