What Do You Thirst For?
Good Morning Girls! I had an awesome time in the Word this morning but am running short on time so I will have to tell you all about it tomorrow. I will share with you a little bit of what has me all fired up though. I was thinking about what Pastor Russ said yesterday about how we are never satisfied with worldly things. As soon as we obtain or achieve something in the world, we thirst again, and want to do it bigger, better, or faster. That has definitely been the case in my life. I run a race....I want to run faster. I reach my goal weight.....I want to lose more. I get new pair of Victoria's Secret sweatpants......I want one in every color! I am happy.....but never satisfied.
Now, that constant thirst for more isn't in itself a bad thing. In many ways it is the thing that drives us. It is the thing that motivates and pushes us towards new goals and achievements. The problem occurs when we thirst for the wrong things. When we spend so much time chasing after the things of this world, rather than the things of God. I spent some time this morning looking at the things I thirst for. I had me a little reality check. I will share more of this with you later this week.
Take some time today to look at the things you thirst for. Are they of the world, or of the Lord? We'll continue later.......
Psalm 42:1-2 As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God.
(I would love to say this is true of me all the time........but does my life reflect these words?)
Love, thanks, and thirst (for God) to you all,
Jen
