Go Ahead.....Get Excited!!!

Good Morning Girls!  Yesterday we talked about Sarah being listed in the Faith Hall of Fame in Hebrews- even though she laughed at God's promise, tried to take matters into her own hands when she got tired of waiting, AND blamed everyone else when HER plan failed.  Hey- looks like there is hope for me yet- Lol!

While I was reading Sarah's story in Genesis yesterday I noticed something else that I found interesting.  I'm sure we had heard this before, but you know how it is- even though you "hear" something you don't really comprehend it until it speaks directly to your life.

Here's the account in Genesis:

Genesis 18: 10-14  Then one of them said, "I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!"  Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent.  Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children.  So she laughed silently to herself and said, "How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master- my husband- is also so old?"  Then the Lord said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh? why did she say, 'Can an old womanlike me have a baby?' Is nothing to hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son."

Sarah did what many of us do when we have been wanting something for so long and it never happens.  She did what many of us do when we feel a promise.....a BIG promise......spoken to our hearts.  She did what many of us do when we are told to stand in faith about something that seems rather bleak.  Do you see what she did?

I picture Sarah in the tent.  She overhears this conversation.  Her heart wants to rejoice.  She looks in the mirror.  She tucks a little strand of hair behind her ear.  She rubs her hand over her cheek feeling the smoothness of her skin.  She rubs her hands over her belly like pregnant women do.  Then she turns sideways imagining what she would look like with a big old belly.  She smiles.  Then the smile quickly fades as she thinks about her limitations and her circumstance.  "Yeah right", she thinks as she does one of those whatever laughs like "what a joke".

How many times has that happened to you?  You get all excited about something and within moments your hopes are destroyed by thoughts of who you are, or who you are not!

Girls- the Good News is this: Is does not matter who you are, or who you are not!  We are not the dream fulfillers.....God is!  So when you feel a spark of hope, or a whispered promise.....it's okay to lay claim on it and believe with all your heart.  It does not matter who you are....all that matters is who God is!

And God is faithful, merciful, kind, generous, forgiving, loving, all -knowing, all-powerful, and most of all able to do ANYTHING!!!! (even when the raw material He is working with is old, worn, and lacking!)

Don't be afraid to get excited!  Don't be afraid of being disappointed, or looking foolish.  I believe God takes pleasure in those that are willing to have a little crazy faith in Him!  Just think of how fun it is to give someone a gift that they have been excitedly waiting for......it's the best feeling to give them that gift......I'm guessing the Lord feels the same way........

Genesis 18:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Love, peace, and excitement to you all-
Jen
