At Ease Soldier
Good Morning Girls! Those of you who have been with me for any length of time have come to know this: I am a fighter! I often quote Joel 3:9 where it says let the weak one throw out her chest and say, "I'm tough, I'm a fighter!". This verse, along with many other verses was first brought to light for me by Mama Burt. She has taught us HomeMakers to be feisty, scrappy, tough, warriors. I know as I know I would not be where I am today if I had not been taught these valuable life changing, life saving lessons!
My faith has not always come easy for me. I have had to fight for it many times. In fact I think it is safe to say that it has often been a daily fight for me to move forward. My past is always trying to steal my future. The enemy of our faith loves to remind me of things I have done, people I have hurt, and mistakes I have made.
I have learned to be on guard, take the offensive, and fight back. I have learned to cast down wrong thoughts, remind myself of God's promises, and stand in the ring with my fists up ready for the next round until Jesus returns to give the final KO punch!
But I was reminded last week that Jesus has already given the final knockout punch! He gave the enemy quite the pummeling when He rose from the dead! Through Him we have won the battle! Through Him we are victorious! Through Him the devil is already under our feet!
Yes, it's true that the enemy has free reign to try to mess with our lives and take our "stuff". Yes, it's true that we need to be aware that we are in the midst of a spiritual warfare. Yes, it's true that we will have struggles, trials, and suffering. Things things are all part of life on earth until Christ returns again. That is why we are given the tools and weapons of warfare in God's Word- so we can stand on guard and hold our ground when the enemy attacks!
Imagine my surprise last week when I was given these orders by the Lord: "At Ease Soldier"! At Ease? What do you mean "At Ease"? Can't you see I am in the fight of my life here right now? Can't you see that things have never been this screwed up and difficult for me? Can't you see that now more than ever I need to attack, fight back, and be scrappier than ever?!
The word I received was "Yes, be scrappy against the enemy and his deceit. But know this: YOU ARE ALREADY OUT OF THE PIT! You no longer have to fight your way "out" of the pit! From where I stand you are already out! Stop battling for what is already won. Return to me. Come, sit under my wing and I will carry you through."
Well let me tell you....I received that word with tears of joy and freedom! I felt set free and at peace for the first time in a long time. I am feeling a little bit more like myself each and every day!
I have me a new battle station now. Would you like to know where it is? It's my couch! I sit there under the Eagle's wings and read about His goodness and faithfulness. I rest in His promises and pray not out of desperation, but out of gratitude and thanksgiving. I am a solider At Ease, and it feels amazing!
So Girls, if you are feeling a little weary from all of your battle wounds perhaps you too have been staying in a battle that has already been won! Spend some time with the Lord today and ask him to help you stand At Ease!
Exodus 14:14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.
Love, grace, and an At Ease day to you all-
Jen
