Word Map
Good Morning Girls! Yesterday I told you all that I was going to start sharing some of the "Lessons I learned on the Fly" (that's some door hanging lingo for you) over my last 10 months working for the pizza place. I sat here this morning asking the Lord where to start. The voice of Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music played through my head Let's start at the very beginning...it's a very good place to start.......
Ahhh yes....my very first day. My boss gives me a map and says "I'm starting you out with a circle, that way you will not get lost." My prideful self laughed at him and said "I'm not an idiot. I can follow a map. I'm not going to get lost." He smiled and said "You'd be surprised. You will be so busy avoiding piles of dog crap you will forget where you are going".
"Greaaatttt", I thought as I took the map and headed out.
I parked my car on the road and started my route. I prayed, made a couple phone calls, and listened to some music. It suddenly occurred to me that I had been walking a long time and had not come back to my car. "the circle can't be that big" I thought to myself as I pulled out my map to take a look.
It took me a few minutes to figure out where I was. I had completed my circle and continued walking right past my car without even noticing! "You've got to be kidding me". I thought.
Since that day I keep my map close by and mark off the streets as I go along. I even put a little star where I have parked my car (yep, I've lost that a time or two as well).
You know, God has provided us with a map as well. He has given us his Word as a map, or as the Bible says as a lamp to guide our feet. As long as we continue to reference His map, we will not get lost. Sure, we may lose our car, go around the same loop twice, stumble, or veer off completely for a while, but the Good News is He will always bring us back to the exact spot we are supposed to be in........
Just like my route, I have found it much easier to review my God given map on a regular basis. It is much less painful to stay on the right path in the first place than to have to "circle back" to find my way back to where I began.
Girls, if you are feeling lost......if you have "lost your car".....sit down and pull out your Map. You will find your way back to yourself and get back on the right path!
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp (map) to guide my feet and a light for my path.
Love, grace, and a Map filled day to you all-
Jen
