Time to Float.......

Good Morning Girls!  Saturday morning I met a friend at the water park.  The park has set hours where you can go and walk against the current of the lazy river for a non impact cardio workout.  Neither one of us had ever done it before so we were excited to see what it would be like........

It was hard!  It was like moving in slow motion.  We walked forward, backward, and sideways.  We walked, jogged, and walked some more.  Around and around the lazy river for 90 minutes.  When we got out our legs were like rubber for those first few steps. Our legs were so used to fighting against the current that they didn't feel normal walking on dry land without any pressure against them.

When I look at my life I see so many places where I walked (and still walk) against the current.  Each step takes effort as I try to move through the challenges that are rushing my way.  I keep going round and round believing that if I just keep moving I will finally get through it.

But I never do.  I just keep going round and round like the lazy river.....always ending up right back where I started with nothing to show for it but a little less energy and legs that are a little more unstable.......

Girls, as Christians we are not supposed to walk against the currents in our lives.  We are to live a life of rest. Even in the midst of a life filled with trials and suffering we are to rest.  Even when our circumstances threaten to pull us under and sink us we are to rest.

How do we rest when the currents of life are rushing at us?

By living a life that resembles the intended use of the lazy river at the water park.  You see, when the park is open, guests do not walk against the current of the lazy river.  In fact, it is forbidden.  When the park is open people grab an inner tube and float along the river with the current rushing below them.   No pressure is felt.  It is a relaxing ride that takes no effort on our part.....as long as you stay in the tube!

Girls, we are to float peacefully in the arms of Jesus as He holds us close and carries us over the currents in our lives.  I know it is easier said than done.  It is a lesson I am learning more and more each day.  I understand that we cannot simply "float" through life.  But I have also learned that I get nowhere fast by my own strength and effort plowing against the current!

From now on, when I catch myself facing the currents on my own efforts, I plan to cling to my personal Inner Tube and let Him carry me above the current to a place of rest.  Anyone care to join me?

Psalm 91:1 Those who live in the shelter (inner tube) of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty

Love, grace, FREEDOM, and a float above your problems day to you all-
Jen
