Decontaminate

Good Morning Girls!  Today we are starting a new set of "D" words.  These words are steps, or tools that help us to stay strong in our faith.  They help us stay grounded.  They help limit the number of times we need deliverance.

If you find yourself needing deliverance (rescue from bondage or danger) more often than usual, don't feel guilty or ashamed.  God is in the business of deliverance!  He loves us so much that he will deliver us as many times as we allow him to.  He is not irritated or disappointed with you- even if it seems like he is having to pull you from the pit on a daily basis.  He will do it!  He loves you!  He will never say "I'm sorry, you've exceeded your allotted times for delivery.....figure it out on your own......."

Even though he will deliver us again and again, I believe it is good for us to do what we can to minimize our need for constant rescuing.  If we are always the one in need, it is hard to help and encourage others in their faith.  God has great plans for us and has plans to use us.  It is hard for us to carry out those plans from the bottom of the pit!

A couple of weeks ago I had trouble writing.  It was due in part to this letter D.

Decontaminate: to eliminate contamination, to make safe by eliminating poisonous or otherwise harmful substances

In other words....detox.

There are times in all of our lives when we need to detox and rid ourselves of poisonous substances.  What are poisonous substances?  I believe they are anything that take you away from your relationship with the Lord.  They are anything that take place as number 1 in your life over the Lord.

They can be things that drain you of life and energy and leave you without the needed endurance to complete the dreams the Lord has placed in your heart.

Poisonous substances come in many forms.  They can be simply substances such as what you eat or drink.  They can also come in the form of people who drag you down and leave you doubting what you believe.  They may be places or environments that rob you of your faith, peace, and joy.

Whatever the poison is, you need to get rid of it!  If you allow it to stay in your life, it will continue to rob you of your peace, rest, and the close relationship the Lord wants to have with you.  Whatever it is, it's not worth it!

Now the poison isn't always a "bad" thing.  It could very well be a good thing that has simply taken a priority it shouldn't have in your life.  You may have to walk away from it for a season in order to break free from the high position it has taken in your life.  Or it may be something that is perfectly okay for others, but for you....well for you it takes you places you just don't want to go.

So what was the poison that interred with my writing a couple weeks ago?  Well I have two days left of the Daniel Fast.  The Daniel Fast consists of drinking only water and eating anything that comes from the ground which means all fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and other things the tree hugging vegans have eaten for years (I say that in love.....I'm just really really cold this morning and really really want a cup of coffee)  Of course, vegans can drink coffee.....but apparently Daniel did not.

I cannot have sugar, meat, dairy, or anything fried.  I could give a rip about any of that.  I would trade all the sugar in Hawaii (is there still a lot of sugar there?) for a cup of coffee.  I would eat brown rice all day long for a hot cup of coffee.  I would trade my children for a cup of fresh coffee.....okay maybe that's a little extreme, but you get my point right?

So the first week of this fast I would get up, not go to my coffee pot, and sit down to study.  I never finished a prayer because I would catch myself staring blankly out the window.  I couldn't read very well because my comprehension was not up to par.  when I sat at my computer I just stared at the blank screen.  I knew what I wanted to write.  I had my D word, my verse, and my story.  However, I just sat there staring unable to move.

I tried to tell the Lord that this was not working out well for anybody.  But the still small voice spoke to my heart.  It said that sometimes when we are in the process of decontaminating, we have to take a break from even the good things so we can fully detox and refresh.  So I did.  I did not write, and I did not feel guilty about it.

Though I feel great now that I have broken many food habits and even some addictions, I admit I fully intend to get me some coffee on Saturday morning!  I have told the Lord if I am supposed to stay clear of it, I am going to need the "whack you upside the head" kind of conviction to stop me!  God knows my heart so I may as well confess I am hoping for no such conviction Lol!

Girls, spend some time with the Lord today.  Ask Him if there is anything you need to detox from.  Are there any activities, habits, people, or places that are robbing you of peace and rest?  Ask the Lord to help you decontaminate and bring you closer to him!

James 2:21 So get rid of all the filth (poisonous substances) and evil (anything robbing you of your peace, and rest) in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls

Love, Grace, and a Toxic Free day to you all-

Jen
